What will you build?

What will you build?

I thought people might like to share what they're going to build for our pulling competition. This is the place to do it!

I will probably be building something with 4 wheels at the front, a turning mechanism at the back, and a light sensor to navigate the course.

I'm not quite sure exactly how i am going to build it yet, Be it be wheels or tracks, Skid Steer or rack and pinion Steering. All i know it is going to have to be geared down, and have an extreamly strong way of hooking a load up to it.

Yeah, mine is going to be geared down a lot too. If I was you I would use wheels, becuase tracks don't have that much grip (unless you have the tank tracks).

I wish I hadn't taken apart my Sumobot 2 (http://nxtmongersworld.blogspot.com/200 ... ot-v2.html) , that was a really good puller. It could pull my stereo on a cart! Still, maybe I can rebuild it.

Yeah, but for this challenge we can't have wheels under the weight. That will be harder.

Mine's already pulling 3lbs! (I know this isn't very much but it's good for me.)

Well i havnt started yet, but we dont know maybe we can only get them to pull about 5 pounds or so. i know from experience that you can lift about 50 pounds. my heavy lifter is proof of that, but pulling is a little bit different, we may have to change it up a bit.

Wow this challenge is going to be alot harder than i thought. mine was pulling about 3.8 pounds of weight, but i only had a huge box at the time, so maybe it was that, so i will try again and try on hardwood floor to see if that works better. Also i found the robot needs to be heavy enough to get enough traction to pull the weight.
