New Project: Truck 1
Thursday, February 28th, 2008 by snowblader13 in NXT, ProjectsMindsensors+Lego=?
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 by ro1000 in NewsThis is written for the purpose of persuading Lego to allow Mindsensors.com to use their sensor casings.
A small NXT (a Lego robotics kit) rover drives around with a sensor that detects which way an obstacle is. The shiny white robot dashed around quickly, and the whir of the motors rises and falls as the rover drives around autonomously. The robot turns away from several walls, then finds a cup and grabs it. The sensor is made by Mindsensors, an online store that makes some of the best sensors available. (A sensor gives input on something, in this case, it detects if the robot will hit something ahead of it or not.) However, all of their sensors are all un-Lego-like because they don’t have any protective encasing. They are just bare-bone circuit boards.
Mindsensors, in my opinion, has the best sensors among all other stores I have seen so far. They have a wide selection of sensors that has all the sensors that other stores offer, and more. Their prices are reasonable, ranging from $19.95 to $97.75 and their sensors are well-made. Hitechnic, another sensor company that Lego has joined with, sells a sensor for $46.99, yet Mindsensors sells one with the same exact capabilities for just $32!
Therefore, I think, Lego should do what they have already done several times these past years with other innovative companies: join with (more…)
ATC – (A)ll (T)errain (C)rawler
Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 by NXTMonger in NXT, ProjectsThis is a sturdy little robot that I made a while ago that can get over anything. Well, not exactly, but it can get over dictionaries! It has 4 treads that can pivot freely, enabling it to have great traction when driving over books etc. Here’s the movie:

SumoBot v2
Monday, February 25th, 2008 by NXTMonger in NXT, ProjectsHere it is… my latest creation worth publishing! It’s a sumo bot that was for the NXTLOG sumo challenge that as usual I missed due to the deadline being a couple months before I made this. Oh well, at least I can still post it here! So, pretty much what’s cool about it is traction. It has 6 wheels that give it awesome traction. The only disadvantage is that it drives kind of slowly, but if it collides with the opponent boy are they going down! The program isn’t really worth posting because it just has the robot stay on the table. There is no ultrasonic sensor to seek the opponent because due to limited space in my LEGO room (AKA bedroom) It would detect my dresser and attack it

Sunday, February 24th, 2008 by snowblader13 in NXT
From NXTLOG:
“One week until NXTLOG reaches 5000 projects!
Gather your NXT components and submit your best design. The NXTLOG moderators will freeze NXTLOG submissions at 4,999 and in one week will choose the robot that best demonstrates the true LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT creative spirit. Will your robot be number 5000?
And to all MINDSTORMS NXT Camera Bot challenge participants, you still have until February 29th to submit your entries.
We will announce both the NXTLOG 5000 and Camera Bot winners the week of March 3rd.
What will you make?”
PPS – Ping Pong Shooter
Sunday, February 24th, 2008 by NXTMonger in NXT, ProjectsHello, I’m NXTMonger, and I would hate to have a post just telling you who I am so here’s one of my projects: It’s called PPS – Ping Pong Shooter. It has a magazine of about seven ping pong balls and can shoot them out quite fast. In the video it’s remote controlled by me.
Can you Guess What I am?
Friday, February 22nd, 2008 by snowblader13 in NXT, ProjectsThis is my newest creation that I am currently working on. (Well actually one out of three that I am. HeHe) This is just the first stage of this project, Because it was a little too late at night to continue it. Like all things it will have to be ripped apart and rebuilt so that it is stronger and can support ALOT more weight. This project will use an NXT for its Propulsion and other functions
I am going to make 2 versions of this for similar yet different purposes.

Judging from the pictures can you guess what I am going to be used for? Like I had stated above there are going to be 2 variations of this used for a similar purpose but different at the same time.
One will be for… And the other for…
Leave a comment for what you will think it will be used for.

I finally Bought Me a Crawler Crane
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 by Airkraft in NXTI have been meaning to buy myself the crawler crane set (8288) for ages, but Lego discontinued them in the UK at Christmas 2007. However, after spending my £5 Lego voucher in my local Lego shop yesterday, I went to Toys R Us and to my great surprise, they had ONE left in stock. So I bought it.

And I must say, this is one of the best sets I have ever bought (apart from the NXT). It took me about 70 minutes to build, and it spent last night guarding my phone on my desk. Today I will build the second model that can be made from the set, and then tomorrow I will set about sorting out the pieces, so I can use them in my upcoming Mindstorms Models.

New Site TeamNXT.org
Sunday, February 17th, 2008 by snowblader13 in NXTTeamNXT.org is up and running. It like my site, is fairly new and trying to get the word out. So if you are into Lego NXT this is an excellent site to check out as they will have many robots posted there. They have ties to NXTGallery.com where they have a nice collection of many different robots. You can also Post your own robots on the site, and view others that members have created.
Biped
Saturday, February 16th, 2008 by ro1000 in NXT, Projectsmeowmechanic on NXTLOG has created one of the best looking bipeds I’ve ever seen so far. It uses just one NXT set, and can walk forward, turn right, and turn left.
Check it out on NXTLOG here.
